The Problem

Salt. UV. Oxidation. Relentless Exposure.

Even the finest gelcoat and painted finishes break down under constant salt spray, UV and airborne dirt. Wax buys you a few weeks of shine. Fortress bonds a permanent ceramic barrier to the surface: deeper gloss, real hydrophobic performance, and a finish that doesn't walk off in the first storm.

What It Is

Ceramic Technology for the Marine World

Fortress Marine uses silica particles to form an ultra-hard crystal layer across your vessel. It was developed and certified for commercial use in Australia, where boats live under brutal UV and constant saline exposure. The kind of conditions that ruin most coatings within a season.

The formula is high-density and VOC-free. The finish is high-gloss and slick to the touch. Salt, bird mess and bio fouling have nothing easy to grip. This isn't a wax. It's engineered surface armour.

Protects against UV, oxidation, salt water and chemicals
Lasts years with minimal maintenance
Applied by trained professionals
Outperforms wax on every measurable axis
SGS tested and certified
Super-hydrophobic water beading on a ceramic-coated surface
Key Benefit

Extreme UV Resistance

Blocks the UV radiation that fades gelcoat and painted finishes. Colour holds, season after season.

9H Certified Hardness

An ultra-hard crystallised ceramic layer. Stands up to oxidation, salt and the everyday knocks a vessel takes.

Advanced Hydrophobic Performance

Water beads and rolls straight off. The surface stays cleaner between washes, so you spend less time on maintenance.

Exceptional Depth & Gloss

A deeper, richer gloss that holds its showroom finish long after the boat leaves the dock.

Chemical & Salt Protection

A non-stick ceramic layer. Salt crystals, bird droppings and airborne contaminants struggle to bond to it.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

Less time washing. Less correction work. Protection that lasts years, not weeks, so your maintenance spend drops.

The Process

How Fortress Works

Surface prep to final cure, each step matters and each step is done by hand. This is marine-grade ceramic technology. It only goes on properly when a professional applies it.

01

Surface Preparation

Full wash and polish to A+ finish, removing all holograms and swirls and correcting any surface damage prior to coating. This is the finish that gets locked in by the ceramic, so it gets checked thoroughly.

Multi-stage wash and decontamination
Removal of holograms and swirls
Correction of previous surface damage
02

Ceramic Application

The coating goes on panel by panel with a dedicated applicator. The silica particles start bonding to the surface within seconds of contact.

Applied in a controlled environment
Section-by-section application
Levelled with microfibre cloths
Multiple layers where the spec calls for it
03

Molecular Bonding

The ceramic chemically locks to the surface at a molecular level and crystallises into an ultra-hard layer. Once it's on, it doesn't wash off.

Chemical bond with the surface itself
9H crystal formation
Fills microscopic surface flaws
Uniform protective barrier across every panel
04

Curing & Inspection

The coating cures fully into a super-hydrophobic, UV-resistant, self-cleaning surface. Full inspection before handover — we walk every panel and check coverage before signing it off.

Controlled curing environment
Full inspection before handover
Hydrophobic performance check
Protection certificate issued

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Fortress Marine ceramic coating?
It's a ceramic coating built around silica particles that crystallise into a 9H crystal layer across your vessel's surfaces. It was developed for commercial use in Australia and tested against the kind of UV and salt exposure that destroys ordinary coatings. It protects against UV, salt, oxidation and the rest of the marine environment for years at a time.
What does it protect against?
UV, saltwater, bio fouling, oxidation, chemical exposure, engine runoff, bird droppings and minor scratches. The cured surface is super-hydrophobic, so water and most contaminants don't get a foothold in the first place.
How long does the protection last?
Years rather than weeks. Marine wax typically needs reapplying every few weeks to a couple of months; Fortress doesn't. Exact longevity depends on how much sun and saltwater the boat sees, and how it's maintained.
Is it DIY or do I need professional application?
Professional application only. The prep and the bonding window are too tight for a DIY approach to give you the result you're paying for. Our certified partners apply it on your behalf. If you run a detailing business and want to apply Fortress yourself, we run training and certification programmes.
What does POA include?
Price on Application: every package is built around your specific vessel rather than a fixed menu. Get in touch and we'll quote you properly.
Why is it superior to wax?
Wax sits on top of the surface and wears off, especially in salt and sun. Fortress chemically bonds to the substrate and crystallises into a 9H layer. It lasts years instead of weeks, gives you real UV protection, is self-cleaning, reduces drag, and is completely VOC-free.
Is Fortress Marine certified?
Yes. Every product is tested and certified by SGS, the world's largest testing and certification company. Certifications cover pencil hardness (9H), anti-weathering and salt spray resistance.
